Thanksgiving

Jody carefully tended the turkey...Our first Thanksgiving in our dining room, now that we have a table and it is not just a playroom. Besides Grammy Love and Bop-Bop, Denise and Joel and Billy came over for dinner, in between visits with Jake at the hospital.

Supermans for Halloween! Both of them had lots of fun trick-or-treating up and down our street.

Riding bikes

A quick video of the boys riding bikes. Jasper's tricycle was Jody's when he was little. And yes that is Jasper saying "Yahoo, yahoo...."

Jasper's First Tiger Game

Jasper and I went to the Tiger game last night! We had planned to all go but right before we left, Liam said his tummy hurt. Then we found him in his bed so we knew he really was sick. Since it was a group event with people I work with, I went and Jody stayed home with Liam. (Also, Jody's ear infection is still very painful.)

We watched a little of the game and then rode the carousel of tigers. Jasper had a huge smile on his face while we went around. We decided to eat chocolate ice cream for dinner and Jasper ate more than I did. He made it until the ice cream was gone and the 6th inning and then said "I go home now".

Some pictures were taken of Jasper so I will add those when I get them from my work friends.

Liam was quite sick for about 6 hours and then was fine when he woke up the next morning. Since he hasn't been to a Tiger game, he doesn't understand what he missed. He asked Jasper if he meant the baseball game at the cottage when Jasper tried to tell him about it.

Liam's First Day of Kindergarten

Today was Liam's first day of Kindergarten! He wasn't too worried and was probably wondering why everyone was making such a big deal about it. He said they talked about rules and didn't get to go on the playground.

Summer

The boys had a great summer with lots of time at Bruce Beach.

Liam's favorite things were building in the sand and collecting bugs and snails.

Jasper's were "hopping waves" and playing any kind of sport.

Mr. Sun

The theme this week at the boys' school is The Sun. Jasper made a sun mask and was singing part of "Mr. Sun" (Oh, Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun, Please shine down on me.

Baby Bunnies

We've now confirmed SEVEN baby bunnies are living in their nest (?) in our myrtle, right up next to the house. They are about the size of my fist, with ears about half the length of my pinkie. Tonight we watched Mommy Bunny come cautiously across the yard to their den (?) and when she got to it, the seven babies jumped out and all nursed at once (like puppies).

Emma has been watching from inside since we realized Mommy Bunny kept coming back even after being chased away several times. Emma's going out in front at least for a couple more days.

Anyone want a pet cottontail bunny?

Play Structure

Here's the new "play structure", as Liam calls it, or just "side!" (slide) for Jasper. It took Jody 3 weekends to build, thanks to not-so-great instructions, one wrong piece and off and on rain.
And also the 5 yds of mulch to go under it! What could be better for 2 boys than a big pile of "dirt" in the driveway? They went to work right away with their wheelbarrow.

Jasper on The Horse

We are back to the normal routine, after Influenza in March (Sarah and Jasper) and Sarah's business trip to LA in mid-April. We are really enjoying the warm spring weather!

Here's a video of Jasper:

Swimming

The boys started swimming lessons today. Jasper is in the Parent-Tot class (with Bop-Bop) and Liam is in One Fish.

Hugging

Jasper kept wanting to hug Liam. They kept hugging each other until it got too wild and I had to put a stop to it.

Jasper's 2nd Birthday

Jasper had a fun 2nd birthday with all his grandparents and Andrew & Sheila. He was overwhelmed with the gifts and had to be convinced several times to keep opening them. We had spaghetti for dinner (one of his favorites) and Grammy Love made the cake.

Jasper Quote

From the boys' school newsletter:
"Jasper said the word “crunchy”. Ms. Supplee said, “Jasper, I like all of the new words coming out of your mouth.” Jasper looked at Ms. Supplee for a couple of seconds then opened his mouth up as wide as he could."

Sesame Street Live

We went to Sesame Street Live at The Fox Theatre last night. The boys were pretty excited and really enjoyed the show. If Elmo wasn't in one of the scenes, Jasper would ask "Melmo?" and then point him out when he reappeared.

Coney Dog

Emma is back to wearing her cone. She got her teeth cleaned yesterday and we also had Dr. Kristy remove that bump on her back, as well as 3 smaller (pea-sized) ones. None of them were anything bad, they aren't even sending anything to the lab for testing. I don't know why each incision is at least 1.5 inches and they are stapled closed (32 staples)! She is a Frankendog. How will they get those out? A staple remover? She was dopey when she came home yesterday but is acting pretty normal now. Stitches come out on the 21st.

Sharing

Yes, they actually shared the chair to watch a Backyardigans episode.

Quotes from Liam

1. Liam asked what kind of bird the "flat eggs" (meaning fried eggs) come from. I wonder if he was picturing some kind of flat animal like a sting ray?

2. "Mommy I know how peas stay cool." "They go in a green bean."

New Year

We got about 8 inches of snow this morning!

Christmas

We had a fun Christmas with the boys excited about Santa (and trying to be nice, not naughty).

We had a party at Grammy and Bop-Bop's with Amy, Andrew (surprised us by taking the train home) and the Dow and Love aunts, uncles and cousins on the 23rd.

Christmas Eve after church.

On Christmas Day we drove to Grammy Robin and Grandpa's in London and saw the Dawkins relatives.

On Boxing Day we drove to "Great" Anne and "Tractor" Larry's in Port Perry (northeast of Toronto) to visit the Wright relatives. The boys thought "the game with all the balls" (Liam) or just "BALLS!" (Jasper) was lots of fun.

And of course, riding in Larry's tractor to plow the snow.
